4 Ways To Incorporate Culture & Religion In Your Wedding Day

A wedding is all about the beautiful union of two people from different backgrounds joining together in love….which can sometimes make it difficult coming to a compromise on how to celebrate your special day! So, whether you’re planning a multicultural wedding or simply want some ideas on how to embrace your culture and/or religion..keep reading! 😁 This post will include different ways that I’ve seen my own couples incorporate certain cultural and religious elements into their wedding day. Some couples have had two different religious ceremonies in one day, others have had two wedding days in order to respect both cultures and religions, and some couples only include bits of each other’s religion into their whole wedding. At the end of the day, the most important aspect of incorporating your culture and/or religion into your special day is to make it unique, personal, and meaningful to both of you.

1.Wedding Attire

Consider incorporating traditional attire! This is a great way to honor your heritage and also add in a unique touch to your wedding day. For example, you could have your attire made in your family’s country of origin. I’ve had couples who had their attires made in the Philippines and India. Many couples also have multiple attires that they wear on their wedding day - from a typical white dress and suit, to their traditional attires.

2. Ceremony

Your ceremony is a perfect time to incorporate some cultural or religious elements. It’s important that if you do this, you provide an explanation to your guests in order to educate them on what they’re witnessing. This will allow them to better understand the significance of these customs.

3. Food

Food is one of the most important elements of a wedding day, so what better way to feel connected to your heritage than by having some traditional dishes or drinks for your wedding dinner.

4. Music / Entertainment

Through music and entertainment, you can pay homage to your heritage in a festive and exciting way. From musicians, to cultural dancers, to piñatas..there’s countless ways to incorporate culture in your reception.

I hope this blog was helpful and gave you some ideas on how to incorporate your culture and religion into your upcoming wedding day! Remember to make personal and choose traditions and elements that are meaningful to you two!
